Amy Pearce is currently serving as an administrative intern at Stocks Elementary School in Edgecombe County Public Schools. Before this, she was a math teacher at Tarboro High School for five years and was a member of the School Improvement Team. She also taught 5th grade science and math for a year and half at South Edgecombe Middle School. While at both schools, she worked on creating curriculum for science and math courses. Amy was also on the technology committee responsible for implementing the 1-to-1 laptop program in Edgecombe County Schools’ high schools. While serving as a classroom teacher, she collaborated with the Friday Institute at North Carolina State University on a STEM grant, “Scale-Up: Scaling up STEM Learning with the VCL,” in an effort to introduce and incorporate advanced mathematical software to rural, underserved high schools. Amy received her Bachelor of Sciences degree in Elementary Education with a Concentration in Child Development and Family relations from East Carolina University in 2005. She is also licensed to teach Reading K-12, Middle Grades Mathematics and High School Mathematics. She is currently a participant in the Northeast Leadership Academy at North Carolina State University, pursuing her Master’s in Leadership and Administration.
